01 / Who & when
A three-step rollout

The threshold drops every year for three years.

HMRC is bringing self-employed people and landlords in by income band.

Income here means combined gross self-employment and UK property income, measured against the qualifying tax year.
From April 2026
Earnings over £50,000
Already in scope. First quarterly update due 7 August 2026.
From April 2027
Earnings over £30,000
Get set up this year — the prep matters more than the deadline.
From April 2028
Earnings over £20,000
Most self-employed people will eventually be in scope.
02 / Rhythm
A year, in four breaths

The new tax year has a beat to it.

Q1 · APR – JUL

The first three months, already in motion.

You record income and expenses through HMRC-recognised software — connected to your bank, so most of it captures itself. We reconcile, you approve, HMRC receives.

Submit by 7 August
Q2 · JUL – OCT

Same rhythm, less friction.

By now your software is doing most of the lifting and we're catching anything mis-categorised before it matters. You get a mid-year tax estimate — no January guesswork.

Submit by 7 November
Q3 · OCT – JAN

The busy stretch, handled.

This is when trade volume usually peaks. We schedule a quick review before submission so nothing surprising shows up in your figures, and we plan around your tax bill in time to do something about it.

Submit by 7 February
Q4 + FINAL DECLARATION

One last sweep, then it's done.

The fourth update plus the end-of-year statement — bringing in reliefs, allowances and any other income — finalises the year. One tax bill, no January scramble, no surprises.

Final declaration by 31 January
03 / How it works
From your bank to HMRC

Four steps. Most of them happen on their own.

Step 01

Your bank feed connects automatically.

Every transaction lands in your accounting software the day it clears. No envelopes of receipts, no end-of-quarter scramble — your records build themselves as you go.

Step 02

Software categorises as you trade.

Xero, FreeAgent or QuickBooks — set up around how your business actually works, with the right account codes, the right VAT treatment, and rules that learn your usual suppliers.

Step 03

A real accountant reviews — every quarter.

Before anything is filed, a qualified accountant looks at your figures, catches anything mis-coded, and flags decisions worth making before the deadline.

Step 04

Submission, with one click.

Filed directly from the software to HMRC. You see exactly what was sent, when it was sent, and the confirmation back. No portals, no logins, no last-minute panic.

04 / Why us
What you actually get

Software, set up properly. A human, on the other end of it.

HMRC-recognised software, configured for you

We set up Xero, FreeAgent or QuickBooks against your bank feeds, your trade, and your usual expense patterns — so quarterly updates are mostly automatic.

A reviewer, every quarter, before you file

No mandate-by-vibes. A qualified accountant looks at your figures before each return goes in. Mistakes caught now cost nothing; mistakes caught later cost interest.

£

A running tax estimate, not a January shock

Because we're inside your numbers every three months, your tax bill stops being a guess. You'll know what's owed long before it's due.
